Foundation cracks occur during the curing process of the poured foundation and settlement along with movement in the earth. Many newer homes have water leaking in the basement as result of these cracks in foundations.
Many of these homes have been waterproofed to the OBC (Ontario Building Code) standard.
So why do they leak you ask. It is because OBC only requires a simple tar coating and dimple membrane to be applied to the foundation wall.
Once the tar drys up a couple years later, water is able to seep into any new or existing foundation cracks.
We use a double membrane system, which guarantee’s a dry basement for life.
Please see our Exterior Waterproofing section for more details.
